GRADUATE HOTEL

Built in 1894 at the edge of Yale College, the Hotel Duncan has been a prominent fixture in the New Haven and Yale communities. In the 1960’s, the hotel was a single-sex hotel for women attending Yale College. The hotel was also home to the Old Heidelberg, a German bar much loved by the entire Yale community. More recently the Hotel Duncan had fallen into disrepair, with 100 units, 38 of which were SRO units. GKV was hired by Graduate Hotels to lead a comprehensive renovation, while maintaining the hotel’s treasured historic charm. The Graduate Hotel, located at 1151 Chapel Street, in the middle of Yale University’s Arts campus, is a 34,500 Sq. Ft boutique hotel with 72 fully renovated rooms. The Graduate Hotel boasts finishes that bring you back to the hotel’s prominent era with a historic nature that replicates the hotel’s glory days. The updated renovation reaches out to the community with a ground-floor coffee bar and the restoration of the beloved Old Heidelberg. The renovation included a restructuring of the building and a complete updating of all infrastructure.
