NEW YORK FOUNDLING CHARTER SCHOOL
The New York Foundling, a non-for-profit organization, commissioned GKV Architects to convert administrative office space in building in the South Bronx into a Charter Middle School. The existing building already housed a charter elementary school and a pediatric clinic on the lower floors with administrative office space for the New York Foundling on the upper three floors. GKV steered the design and construction of the school, which housed classrooms, an art room, a science room, dance studio, student lounge, teachers’ offices, a nurse’s office, and a lecture hall.
