TEMPLE COURT BAR + RESTAURANT

Owned by the acclaimed chef Tom Colicchio, Temple Court Bar and Restaurant serves as both the living room and the room-service venue for The Beekman Hotel and Residences. The rich detailing of the 19th century building within which it is housed guided every aspect of the design. Original plaster ceiling details were restored high above, while new wood flooring with a parquet border serves to demark the location of the original retail shops that once lined the lobby entry. A long bar organizes the main room at the foot of the historic atrium and is complemented by an eclectic collection of lamps and mismatched lounge seating. Raw surfaces were adorned by quality finishes and rich materials including plaster, stone and wood. New services and infrastructure were introduced, while maintaining the generous proportions of the original structure, like the four foot thick masonry bearing walls with arched openings that connect the two public rooms. The restaurant, lined by banquette seating, includes stained glass framed between original brick piers, decorative chandeliers and old world charm. New storefront windows and entrances, inspired by the original designs were approved by the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission, while the building’s Interiors were detailed under the review of the State Historic Preservation Office.
